Stegna and its surrounding areas, thanks to their attractive location, unique microclimate, and magnificent landscapes, offer a wide range of tourist services. The network of rivers and canals encourages water sports. Spacious beaches rich in amber and a unique range of dunes covered with pine forests are the hallmark of the municipality.
The Stegna Municipality is one of the largest rural municipalities in Poland. Its area borders the city of Gdańsk to the west and the Vistula River, which empties into the Baltic Sea here and serves as the municipality's border. The northern part of the municipality consists of the amber-rich beaches of the Vistula Spit. To the southeast of Stegna stretch the open expanses of the Vistula Fenlands (Żuławy).
The municipality is one of the few places on the Polish coast where one can observe the process of marine sand accumulation. Tourism develops mainly in the Spit area, where the four most important towns of the municipality are located: Stegna, Junoszyno, Jantar, and Mikoszewo. These areas create great opportunities for water sports (sailing, kayaking, motorboating) not only due to the proximity of the sea but also thanks to the dense network of rivers and navigable canals present in this region. Lovers of water attractions have nearly 50 km of waterways at their disposal, as well as two new mooring piers. Thanks to the Żuławy Loop, which is a waterway covering the Vistula delta, it is possible to sail from the Gulf of Gdańsk to the Vistula Lagoon and the Elbląg Waterway Node. An interesting fact is that by setting sail on the waters of the Stegna municipality, e.g., the Szkarpawa or Wisła Królewiecka rivers, and heading west, one can reach Berlin through a network of rivers and canals, and from there travel further into Europe.
Several interesting tourist trails pass through the municipality, including the Amber Trail (a segment of the European Long Distance Walking Route "E-9"). Highly recommended is the Amber Museum in Jantar, where visitors can view magnificent specimens of amber and products made from this precious material. For hiking enthusiasts, the following routes are recommended: the yellow trail - "Amber" (through Świnoujście, Koszalin, Hel, Gdańsk, the Vistula Spit, Elbląg, Frombork, Braniewo), whose total length is 52 km, and the blue trail - "Vistula" (Sztum - Biała Góra - Piekło - Mątowy Małe - Mątowy Wielkie - Most Knybawski - Lisewo - Boręty - Palczewo - Nowa Cerkiew - Ostaszewo - Żuławki - Drewnica - Mikoszewo) with a length of 76 km.
The Stegna Municipality lies partially within the Vistula Spit Landscape Park. This area is an important point on the European bird migration route and a unique breeding refuge for many waterfowl and wetland birds. The reserve area is home to over 322 vertebrate species, including as many as 255 protected species.
Due to such a large number of protected bird populations, two ornithological reserves are also located within the Landscape Park. The first of them - "Kąty Rybackie" - protects the largest breeding colony of great cormorants in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. The "Mewia Łacha" reserve protects the landscape of the alluvial fan at the mouth of the Vistula River Cross-Cut (Przekop Wisły), which is a bird refuge of international importance and a habitat for a number of rare plant species. The park area also includes a forest reserve - "Buki Mierzei Wiślanej" (Vistula Spit Beeches) - protecting an approximately 150-year-old beech stand in its natural environment.
Among the preserved structures in Stegna, the wooden houses from the mid-19th century are of particular interest. The most important monument of this town is a timber-framed church with polychrome ceilings, built between 1681 and 1683. Every year in the summer, organ music concerts are held in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus as part of the International Organ Festival. Since 1999, the World Amber Fishing Championships have been organized in Jantar. The National Sailing Rally is also highly popular.
The wide, sandy coastal beaches are a great asset of the Vistula Spit. Along with the improvement in the quality of tourist services, the benefits flowing from the development of tourism - which is increasingly present in municipal development strategies - are also growing. A convenient road network provides access to the coast and transport connections between individual towns. An additional advantage of this area is its short distance to the center of the metropolitan area and to Elbląg.
