The Stężyca Municipality is located within the Kashubian Landscape Park, characterized by a diverse landscape and a large number of lakes and rivers. Several of them, situated within the municipality, form part of the so-called Raduńskie Circle (Kółko Raduńskie), which consists of 14 lakes connected by canals and rivers.
The municipality's location and diverse landscape have determined its cultural image. This area is rich in numerous archaeological finds, testifying to extensive prehistoric settlement in this region. Elements of the medieval settlement structure have also been preserved. These include: hillforts, the rural layouts of settlements and manorial estates, and historic transport routes. Surviving architectural structures include numerous traditional huts, houses, service facilities, and religious buildings. As a result, the municipality has developed a strong tourist character over time and is associated primarily with the picturesque land known as Kashubian Switzerland (Szwajcaria Kaszubska).
Numerous attractions await tourists here: summer activities centered around relaxing on the shores of beautiful lakes, and winter sports during the snowy months. Downhill skiing enthusiasts have at their disposal the slopes of Wieżyca with T-bar lifts, which are open during the winter season. In summer, it is also worth climbing to the top of Wieżyca (329 m a.s.l.), which is the highest point on the vast North European Plain. At its very peak, there is the John Paul II observation tower, from which you can admire unforgettable views. During the summer season and beyond, visitors can use the accommodation base in holiday resorts, guesthouses, as well as in private agritourism farmstays and the youth hostel in Szymbark.
Natural attractions include the Botanical Garden in Gołubie and the "green school" in Szymbark, which conducts year-round ecological education through field workshops for primary school youth. However, one of the most famous tourist complexes, attracting 600,000 tourists annually, is the Centre of Education and Regional Promotion (CEPR) in Szymbark, which features over a dozen structures made entirely of wood using various technologies. An important place there is the Sybirak's House (Dom Sybiraka). This over 240-year-old wooden building is a gift from Polish exiles living in Siberia. It serves as a beautiful reminder to the locals that their compatriots, who dream of returning to their Homeland, still live in Siberia. There is also a popular open-air museum, the famous "upside-down house", and the famous record-breaking wooden plank (originally 37 meters, now over 46 meters long), which was entered into the Guinness Book of Records.
The main branch of the local economy is dynamically developing tourism, including agritourism, as well as agriculture and forestry. Over 60% of the municipality's area belongs to the Kashubian Landscape Park.
