The Szemud Municipality is located within the Gdańsk metropolitan area, making it an excellent recreational base and a retreat for the Tricity agglomeration. It is becoming a natural recreational area, a perfect place to relax after work, for weekends, or for vacations.
The eastern part of the municipality, bordering Gdynia, is becoming increasingly popular for tourism and residential purposes. Residents from the center of the metropolis are relocating here, and new residential and summer housing estates are being built.
The Szemud Municipality is characterized by a rich and unpolluted natural environment, picturesque landscapes with numerous lakes and rivers, and an absence of heavy industry. The most interesting corners of the municipality include the areas of the Tricity Landscape Park and the region around Lakes Kamień, Wysoka, Otalżyno, and Marchowo, which serve as a recreational base and weekend getaway for the residents of the metropolis. Among the villages that attract an ever-growing group of city dwellers, it is worth mentioning Koleczkowo, Bojano, and Karczemki.
The residents of this region are known for cultivating Kashubian culture, customs, and traditions. It is highly recommended to familiarize yourself with the repertoire of the "Koleczkowianie" Kashubian regional ensemble. The history and culture of the Szemud region can be explored at the annual Kashubian Festival (Festyn Kaszubski) held in Warzno.
