Tczew County is located in the southeastern part of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Administratively, it consists of three rural communes (Subkowy, Tczew, Morzeszczyn), two urban-rural communes (Gniew, Pelplin), and the city of Tczew. Geographically, the county stretches between the left bank of the Lower Vistula Valley and the edge of the moraine plateau of the Starogard Lake District. Its northern part encompasses a small fragment of the Vistula Fens, while the southern borders are marked by vast forest complexes near Swarożyn and Opalenie. Tczew County is an integral part of the Kociewie region, whose vibrant and colorful folklore remains a crucial element of local identity. The area's uniqueness lies in its rich diversity of culture, nature, and landscapes. The varied topography—where lowland areas meet post-glacial hills, the scenic edges of the Vistula Valley, extensive forests, rivers, and lakes—creates a truly breathtaking environment. The region's natural pearls include the steep Vistula escarpments stretching along the Opalenie and Walichnowy Lowlands, as well as the Wiosło Duże and Wiosło Małe nature reserves. Tczew County is a key point on Poland's transport map, intersected by international roads connecting the Tricity with the rest of the country, as well as a major railway line facilitating transport between Pomerania and Upper Silesia. A spectacular showcase is the post-Cistercian Cathedral Basilica in Pelplin, a Gothic masterpiece considered one of the most beautiful religious buildings in Poland.
