Nowy Dwór Gdański, due to its location in the center of the Vistula Fenlands (Żuławy Wiślane), is referred to as the "Capital of Żuławy". Its location between the branches of the Vistula and Nogat rivers creates excellent conditions for fishing, water tourism, and water sports.
The lowland landscape and the lack of natural elevations mean that Żuławy lie in depressions in many places. Near Nowy Dwór Gdański is the village of Raczki Elbląskie, which features the lowest point in Poland (1.8 meters below sea level). In the vicinity of the town, one can admire interesting architecture - the legacy of the former inhabitants of these lands - including traditional Żuławy farmsteads, characteristic arcaded houses, and hydrotechnical structures such as locks, pumping stations, and the drawbridge over the Tuga River. Important elements of the local landscape are the Gothic churches built in the late Middle Ages, as well as Mennonite cemeteries, the remains of which can be found in some villages.
The town's location in the center of Żuławy makes Nowy Dwór Gdański very well-connected. The center of the metropolis, as well as Elbląg, can be quickly reached via National Road No. 7 (E7), which runs through the municipality.
Promoting the most valuable sites of Żuławy is the task of the Żuławy Historical Park. It serves as the cultural center of the region. It should be noted that it is the only facility of its kind integrating the communities from the Nowy Dwór, Malbork, and Gdańsk counties.
Crop cultivation in the Nowy Dwór Gdański Municipality is the main branch of the region's economy. The excellent conditions for agricultural development in the municipality are evidenced by the agricultural production space quality index (according to the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation in Puławy), which reaches an impressive 93.9 points on a 100-point scale. The area boasts the most fertile soils in the country, dominated by the cultivation of wheat, sugar beets, barley, potatoes, and rapeseed. Many farmers in the municipality raise dairy cattle. Nowy Dwór Gdański has one of the best dairy cooperatives in the country. "OSM Nowy Dwór Gdański" was established in 1963 and processes 40 million liters of milk annually. The cooperative is a two-time winner of a competition in the "most interesting food product of the year" category.
For several years, the Nowy Dwór Gdański Municipality has been cooperating with four partner cities. The first was Hennef (Sieg) in Germany, followed by Svetly in the Kaliningrad Oblast, Sarny in Ukraine, and Velká nad Veličkou in the Czech Republic.
