Wejherowo County is the largest land county in the metropolitan area, both in terms of landmass and population. It consists of seven rural communes and three towns—Wejherowo, Rumia, and Reda—which together form the so-called Little Kashubian Tricity. The county's municipalities are located just a short distance from the heart of the metropolis, allowing residents to easily enjoy the services, education, and cultural offerings of the central cities. The county's attractiveness is clearly reflected in its demographics: since its establishment following the administrative reform in 1999, the population has experienced rapid and consistent growth, making it one of the most dynamically developing areas in the entire region. Wejherowo County is also exceptionally well-connected. Three public transport operators belonging to the Metropolitan Transport Union of the Gulf of Gdańsk serve the area, including the Rapid Commuter Railway (SKM). Acting as the overground metro of the metropolis, the SKM provides residents across five communes with fast, reliable connections to Sopot, Gdańsk, Pruszcz Gdański, and even Tczew. Convenient road transport is ensured by the county's location along the E28 international route (the S6 expressway), while a major railway line connects the metropolis with Szczecin and Berlin. The county is a hub for major industry, home to highly recognized companies such as the GRAAL Capital Group, Poland's largest fish processing enterprise, BALEX METAL, a leading manufacturer of steel construction materials, and Porta KMI Poland, the national leader in door production. The southern part of Wejherowo County lies within the picturesque Kashubian Lake District, encompassing parts of both the Kashubian and Tricity Landscape Parks. The outstanding natural and scenic values strongly stimulate regional tourism, further enriched by the local Kashubians who meticulously preserve their unique cultural heritage. With its rich history, the county offers numerous fascinating sites for visitors, including the Route of Manors and Palaces of Northern Kashubia featuring estates in Wejherowo, Godętowo, and Sasino. Historical religious landmarks are equally impressive, most notably the Wejherowo Calvary, former Evangelical churches in Bolszewo and Wejherowo, and beautiful neo-Gothic churches in Kielno and Szemud. An interesting historical footnote is that the commune of Gniewino hosted the Spanish national football team's base camp for the UEFA EURO 2012 tournament, where they ultimately won the European Championship.
