Due to its location, Wejherowo is a town with many assets. Its belonging to the Kashubian cultural region, numerous tourist attractions related to its over 380-year history, its proximity to the Baltic Sea, and fast transport connections with the Tricity make the town continuously appreciated by investors and tourists looking for interesting and attractive places in Pomerania.
The modern S6 expressway (E-28 route on the Gdańsk - Szczecin - Berlin axis) bypasses the town nearby, while provincial road No. 218 (Gdańsk Osowa - Krokowa) and the main northern railway line run directly through Wejherowo. Thanks to its good transport infrastructure and its connection to Gdańsk and Sopot via the Fast Urban Railway (SKM), Wejherowo's excellent accessibility is further enhancing its appeal to both visitors and businesses alike.
The town is often called the "spiritual capital of Kashubia" and functions as a strong center of religious tourism. Wejherowo is home to a Calvary with a complex of 17th-century chapels, which is considered one of the pearls among all such sites in the entire country. Every year, crowds of pilgrims arrive in the town to visit one of the oldest sanctuaries of the Lord's Passion in Poland.
In Wejherowo, tradition and history harmonize with modernity. One of the symbols of the town's development is the unique building of the Kashubian Philharmonic, which has the shape of a ship's hull incorporated into its architectural form. However, it is not only the original design that makes the Philharmonic a special place. It is a vital culture-forming center for the region, where various art forms are regularly presented, and broad artistic activities are undertaken. In the summer, a viewing terrace is open to visitors, offering a beautiful panorama of the town on sunny days.
The history visible in magnificent and well-preserved monuments, blending with elements of Kashubian culture and modern, thoughtfully designed architecture, makes up the unique atmosphere of Wejherowo. To discover the town by following the traces of history, tourists can go to the market square, where the monument of Jakub Wejher - the town's founder - stands. They can also visit St. Anne's Church - the oldest preserved piece of urban architecture, which houses the crypts of the town's founder and his benefactors - or explore the museum located in the former Przebendowski and Keyserlingk Palace.
The Kashubian Alphabet Song Trail (Szlak Nut Kaszubskich) has also been specially prepared for tourists, guiding visitors through Wejherowo's greatest attractions. The stages of the trail are marked by fragments of a popular regional counting song. By following the elements of the melody, you can visit all the most important places and learn about local culture and tradition. At the end of the route, a musical sculpture of a Kashubian awaits tourists in the historic A. Majkowski City Park, where you can listen to the entire song. The park features aviaries with crowned cranes and white-tailed eagles, as well as pelicans. There is also an attractive, very large playground loved by parents and children, an outdoor gym, a cafe, numerous park alleys, an illuminated fountain, and, in the summer, pedal boats on the park canals.
