107 turbines that generate 1,5 GW for around 2,5 mln households in Poland is the
projected output of the construction that just went underway. May 11 th marks the day
when the process of installing first out of 111 monopile foundations began. 107
of them will be used for wind turbines and 4, as a base for offshore substations. Each
of these is over 100 metres long and can weigh up to 2000 tonnes.

During a celebratory event in Gdańsk, the Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka said:
“The goal of the project of the offshore wind farm Baltica 2 is not only to produce
electric energy from renewable sources, but also to engage local companies in the
development of a new economic sector.” He also added that beginning of the
construction is a “breakthrough moment”.

Also present during the event was Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina
Henning-Kloska, who stated that:
“The beginning of installing the foundations for the offshore wind farm Baltica 2 is a
key and strategic phase, in which we can see every day, every week the changes,
that happen before our eyes. These aren’t plans, discussions or dreams anymore,
but reality that changes in the sole, correct direction”. Furthermore, she noted that the
offshore wind farm project is not only “the foundation of a new, polish energy mix” but
also a “basis for the security of Poland’s energy sources and our sovereignty”.

The completion of this stage will pave the way for subsequent phases, including the
installation of transmission cables to connect the farm to the national grid, the
construction of offshore substations, and finally, the assembly of internal cables and
the turbines themselves.
Simultaneously, in the town of Choczewo in the Pomeranian region, work is already
underway on a new power plant and grid connection infrastructure. These combined
investments underscore the region's commitment to energy diversification, with the
start of Baltica 2 serving as a major milestone on that journey.
