With a planned capacity of over 560 MW, the facility will be located in the Rudniki district. It is the first large-scale power generation unit of its kind in the region. Furthermore, according to the Orlen Group, the plant will incorporate innovative circular economy solutions.
Energa reports that initial earthworks are already underway at the site. Current activities include connecting utilities, preparing access roads, and driving special foundation piles. The main foundation work for the unit is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026, with the delivery of turbines and generators expected in 2027.

The Rudniki power plant is slated for completion and commercial operation in 2029, and the facility is contracted to supply energy until at least 2046.
This project is vital for Pomerania, not only for bolstering energy security but also for its environmental benefits. The new unit will significantly reduce the region's reliance on coal-fired power plants. According to CCGT Gdańsk, the Rudniki facility will cut CO2 emissions by more than half compared to traditional generation methods.
