For Relaxation

For Relaxation

The Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area and the surrounding Pomeranian region offer an outstanding selection of ways to unwind, whether you prefer doing as little as possible or staying highly active.

The region’s greatest asset is its outstanding natural beauty, encompassing a diverse range of landscapes. From the sleepy fishing villages and endless sandy beaches in the north and east to the rolling hills and forests in the south and west, the Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area is blessed with so much natural beauty that it is difficult to know where to start.

You can relax by enjoying world-class spa facilities in the historic spa town of Sopot, whose natural springs have been used commercially since the time of Napoleon. Jean George Haffner, a doctor in Napoleon's army, settled here in the early 19th century, building bathhouses and offering the first treatments. Thanks to this and its wide sandy beaches, the town grew into a popular tourist destination. Today, you’ll find a wide range of top-class hotels offering spa and beauty treatments in state-of-the-art surroundings.

But it’s not just spa treatments that attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Much of the Gdańsk Metropolitan Area is dominated by thick forests, each offering wonderful opportunities to hike and cycle along signposted trails snaking through the countryside. There are hundreds of kilometers of modern cycle and walking routes throughout the region. On sunny days, residents can be seen out walking, skating, and riding along the beachside path that winds its way from Gdańsk in the south to Gdynia and beyond in the north.

You can sail or windsurf in the sheltered bay, or head out onto the Baltic Sea itself on the exposed side of the Hel Peninsula. The nearby Kashubia and Kociewie regions offer a peaceful alternative to the cities.

Here, you’ll find hundreds of beautiful lakes boasting crystal-clear water, surrounded by tranquil woodland.

The region has a lot to offer, and with a developed network of services—from bike rentals to sailing clubs and local tour operators—there’s no reason to miss any of it.
