Metropolitan Area Gdańsk Gdynia Sopot

Work on the roadways in the Martwa Wisla tunnels is nearing completion and next week it is expected that the final 13 metres in each tunnel will be concreted.

From the beginning of October, the Gdansk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area will become even better connected with the extension of the Pomeranian Metropolitan Area line to the Kashubian town of Kartuzy.

The start of this year’s Gdynia Film Festival also saw the official opening of the Gdynia Film Centre, a new investment which has revitalised a part of central Gdynia and which increases the attractions for visitors to the city further.

The inaugural meeting of the Gdansk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area Programme Board took place on the 24th of August at Olivia Business Centre in Gdansk. The board is a newly appointed body whose objective is to plan the direction of the development of the metropolitan area and the inaugural meeting was attended by partners from the different stake holders who will play a key role in this development – the Metropolitan Area board; the provincial government; the local government; the business community; education and non-governmental organisations.

US financial giant, State Street, announced on Thursday that they are to open a new office in Gdansk in 2016. They hope to eventually recruit more than 1,000 people in the city.

Representatives from local government and metropolitan partners from science and business met to discuss how to work together for 2030.
