The City of Gdansk received an encouraging report of its financial management last week when Fitch Ratings, one of the 'Big 3' credit agencies upgraded its rating and wrote positively of the outlook for the city in the sort and medium terms.

Tczew is set to build an innovative new Shipwreck Conservation Centre which, for the first time in Poland, will simultaneously function as both a museum storage/restoration solution and a visitor attraction. The cornerstone of the new National Maritime Museum facility was laid in November, and on completion it will be possible for the general public to see exhibitions of collections covering over 40 years of underwater archaeological work. If all goes to plan, the centre will open its doors in early 2016.

Investing in new tram lines and a new fleet in recent years has significantly increased the number of passengers on Gdansk's trams, says the national Transport Publiczny portal (www.transport-publiczny.pl).

The AGM of the Gdansk Metropolitan Area (GOM) was held on Monday February 23, at the European Solidarity Centre in Gdansk, during which there were elections to fill the various posts in the association.
