The work of a team of young, local scientists has attracted the attention of the National Geographic who wrote about this in a recent article. The group, who are all from the Gdansk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area, are working on an innovative method to help fight infections where antibiotics have failed.

The final meeting of the Gdansk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area (OM-G-G-S) Social Development Committee in 2015 took place last week where the work of the last twelve months was summarized and there was an opportunity to address the recent issues raised by local governments.

“For the first time in 300 years Gdansk has hold of the reins and is starting to return to its heyday of the seventeenth century. Back then, it was a Hong Kong for the Republic” so says the investor in Poland's largest business complex outside of Warsaw, Mr. Maciej Grabski.

The Committee on the Action Plan for the Gdansk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area Strategy to 2030 project has a new chairman following the appointment of Piotr Grzelak, vice-president of Gdansk, at a meeting of the committee last week.

A delegation of the Gdansk Gdynia Sopot Metropolitan Area association paid a visit last week to Rotterdam in the Netherlands to exchange experiences with representatives of the metropolitan area there.

The Gdansk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area is preparing to implement the Low Carbon Economy Plan (PGN), which will list the investments in the low-carbon economy in the 31 municipalities of Pomerania.
