It's been two years since a new agreement came into effect that allowed travellers to cross the Polish - Russian border under a scheme called the Maly Ruch Granice (MRG). July 27 this year saw the second anniversary of the operation of the MRG, Lieutenant Justyna Szubstarska, the press officer for Warmia and Mazury Border Guard told Spedycje.pl.

Approximately 10,000 people were immortalised in a photograph taken on Sunday to mark the 4th World Gdansk Reunion. The last time such photographs were taken was four and fourteen years ago.

President Lech Walesa, together with the President of Gdansk Pawel Adamowicz, Basil Kerski, director of the European Solidarity Centre (ECS), and Ryszard Trykosko, president of Gdansk Municipal Investments (GIK) today visited the European Solidarity Centre to check how construction is proceeding. President Walesa also visited his future office which will be found in the building. The ECS is scheduled to open to the public on 30-31 August 2014, on the anniversary of the signing of the August Accords.

The biggest cultural event in the Gdansk calendar is the three-week long St Dominic’s Fair or Jarmark Dominika. This year’s event begins on Saturday July 26.

Gdańsk took first and Sopot third places in the category of cities with county rights for 2014 (shared with Wrocław). As the editors of Rzeczpospolita were assessing local governments for the tenth time they also made a 10th jubilee award. Here Sopot won second, and Gdańsk third place.

The Tri-City is becoming one of the main start-up centres in Poland. For entrepreneurs from Pomerania this is extremely good news, because there are more and more investors, business friendly institutions and also local government support for innovative companies in the technology industry.
